  • We encourage everyone to contribute – both those on HAN and their carers or family members. Please do not assume your story is not important. Send us your thoughts and experiences.
  • When putting your thoughts on paper do not worry if writing is ‘not your thing’ – we can take   your content and make it user-friendly.
  • Try to keep your story salient and to the point – think about a beginning, a middle and an end. When writing, focus on the facts and the point that you are trying to convey to the reader – it can be tempting to wander off on a tangent (think waffle!), so keep in mind the story that you want to tell and try not to deviate.
  • If you have more than one story or point to share, then you are welcome to send in a maximum  of two contributions for one issue (although due to space restrictions we may only use one and keep the other for a future issue). Please keep each piece to a maximum of 800 words. If you have more than two items, please feel free to send them in but we reserve the right to publish the item(s) in a separate issue of Online Newsletter.
  • Please keep each single contribution to an absolute maximum of 800 words. It may be tempting to write reams, but Online Newsletter space is limited. Be aware that we reserve the right to cut content that is too long. We want to give everyone equal opportunity to share their story.
  • Please include at least one, (maximum of three), relevant, high-quality digital image(s) with a minimum of 300 ppi (pixels per inch) with your contribution. Unfortunately, anything smaller than this will not be suitable for use in a print publication.
  • Keep your content relevant: Relevant to PINNT and what the charity stands for and who its members are – people of all ages, genders, religions, ethnicities, abilities and sexualities, who have something in common – they are either fed enterally or parenterally or care for someone who is.
  • Please do not make claims about medical products or services in your content that cannot be substantiated. We cannot publish stories that are promoting or selling products/services.
  • Please note that we will edit your content, where necessary, to make it reader-friendly. We will not change the meaning, but editing is sometimes essential for parity and comprehension.
  • Please note we will not publish defamatory or abusive content.
  • Enjoy your writing – don’t censor it unnecessarily (unless it contravenes our specified guidelines). The editors will have the final decision on appropriate content and may contact you to clarify things.
  • Please include your name and email address and contact telephone number in all correspondence (these will not be published and are subject to data protection). Please note  that if we are unable to contact you to clarify something before deadline, we may have to omit your contribution.
  • Please respect our deadlines. If you do not manage to get your item in by our specified deadline don’t worry but remember that it will have to wait until the next issue. We are unable to make exceptions.
