Carolyn Wheatley awarded an MBE in the King's New Years Honours List 2025

PINNT is incredibly proud to celebrate our Chair, Carolyn Wheatley, on being awarded an MBE as part of the King’s New Years Honours List for 2025. This prestigious recognition highlights Carolyn’s unwavering dedication to supporting individuals living with intestinal failure and her tireless efforts to enhance the quality of life for people relying on artificial nutrition.

Carolyn’s journey, rooted in her personal experience, has been a beacon of hope and inspiration for many. Her leadership in PINNT has fostered a community where patients feel empowered and supported, and PINNT has a voice in many healthcare and service provider settings.

We are thrilled to see her commitment and hard work honoured in such a meaningful way. Congratulations, Carolyn, on this well-deserved accolade!

Richard Shawyer-Clarke, Trustee

Further to the tribute from Richard Shawyer-Clarke, on behalf PINNT’s executive committee, we are delighted to extend heartfelt congratulations to our very own Carolyn Wheatley for being awarded an MBE in the King's New Years Honours List 2025.

We are incredibly proud and pleased to see that Carolyn is recognised for her tireless advocacy work over many years. Not only does she strive to ensure that Home Artificial Nutrition (HAN), intestinal failure and nutrition support that the patient’s voice is considered and heard, but she does this, whilst herself being dependant on intravenous feeding. She utilises her personal experience from over 4 decades of her condition and treatment to forge relationships across all areas of healthcare, building alliances to bring the patient into the heart of healthcare decisions.

When asked for comment on being bestowed this award, Carolyn expressed "I am deeply honoured to receive an MBE for services to patients with intestinal failure. It is a privilege to support people who, like me also face health and lifestyle issues."

PINNT was established to ensure that patients had access to a support from people with lived experiences of both parenteral and enteral feeding. Despite the common treatments the reasons behind the need for them is vast. PINNT has grown and in addition to support and advocacy PINNT has a voice in many healthcare and service provider settings.

Personally, I know that PINNT’s work is so important and has always been a team effort, but like any team someone needs to be at the helm steering it on its path and that’s Carolyn. Working with Carolyn is a privilege, but I am incredibly honoured to be able to call her a friend.

Carolyn told me "I am very humbled and grateful to have been recognised in His Majesty's New Years honours List for 2025 and I look forward to the work ahead, striding to achieve meaningful improvements for patients in need of HAN."

Congratulations from all at PINNT Carolyn.
