30 day consultation for IF Services
16/08/2017
NHS England has launched a 30 day consultation on a revised service specification for specialised adult intestinal failure services.
This new service specification has been developed following nationwide engagement with clinicians, providers, commissioners, patients and the public on the priorities and future model of the service, including the interface with the HPN (Home Parenteral Nutrition) Framework and paediatric intestinal failure services, although these are both outside the scope of this review.
NHS England thank everyone who has been involved with the review to date, either by joining one of the focus groups, responding to the patient survey or attending one of the regional clinical workshops – all of the comments that we have heard so far have helped to shape the development of the service specification.
Following this consultation, they will review any feedback received and once the final service specification has been agreed and we are clear on the level of need across the country, a new commissioning strategy will ensure the right services are commissioned in the right place to meet the needs of patients and the national standards agreed by clinicians.
Later in the autumn they will be consulting more broadly on this strategy and the potential implications for patients in implementing these plans.
If you have any further questions or comments about the review, please do contact
