PINNT say 'thank you'......

A dream that came true ......

On 25th May 2012 PINNT held a small gathering to mark their 25th anniversary. The relaxed and smart setting of The Donnington Valley Hotel, Newbury was the chosen venue with the added bonus of the glorious weather. Each of the guests were invited because along PINNT s journey they had either inspired PINNT, supported them, donated valuable time or believed in their aims. PINNT was started, and has continued, on the back of a lot of good will. The most important people to PINNT are their members and each one has been offered complimentary membership for the anniversary year. The offer is also available to new full and associate members. There have been special events at regional and local groups. PINNT grew from the belief of two people. Andy Lumb and Anne Pick had a dream about a patients support group; along with Sue Saunders and Carolyn Wheatley (all four pioneers of HPN) they made that dream a reality. Carolyn Wheatley invited everyone to help her keep the dream alive with their continued support. The main function of PINNT is to offer mutual support and understanding to those requiring home artificial nutrition. They help people while they adapt to their new therapy and ease them into the practical aspects of life at home on tube feeding. In addition to this PINNT is so much more than a support group; it s a community where life-long friends are made. PINNT also offer the users perspective in a number of forums. Carolyn Wheatley acknowledged that over the years PINNT had received the dedication and support from some amazing volunteers, mostly all patients themselves. Sadly some dearly missed friends are no longer with PINNT but Carolyn said she believed there was a PINNT group in heaven where all those who couldn t previously eat or drink were tucking into an all you can eat buffet! Richard Shawyer paid tribute to Carolyn for her 25 years with PINNT. Carolyn closed with a few kind words from John Lennard-Jones, who sadly was unable to attend the celebration Bravo PINNT on so much achieved during your first 25 years - best wishes as the Association continues to gain in stature and mutual self help as your second quarter century begins .
