HAN Week 2025

Home Artificial Nutrition Awareness (HAN) Week: 4-10 August 2025; a week dedicated to raising awareness about essential nutritional treatments; parenteral and enteral feeding and oral supplements.

Theme: Going Greener?

We will be sharing the results of the survey we conducted during HAN Week 2024: exploring the waste generated from being on home nutritional support, both clinical and non-clinical waste as well as necessary and unnecessary waste.

Two weeks prior to the official start of HAN Week 2025, we will be opening a short survey to find out what the situation is 12 months on. Even if you didn't do the survey last year you can take part! We will send the link directly to members and it will appear on our social platforms.
  • We are seeking members who would be willing to record a short video to support our theme. We have a range of ideas for this, so please, if you are interested, email at comms@pinnt.com.
  • If you have a comment or feeling about either necessary or unnecessary waste that you would like others to know, this would be an ideal time to share it.
You can engage with a number of activities...

Share your story
  • In words:  you could write your HAN story - include what type of artificial nutrition you/your child has and why, the impact on your life, the pros and cons, the things that show the reality of our life saving treatments.
  • By video: you could record your HAN story in a 1-2 minute video - include your name, condition, type of treatment you have and one key message you would like people to hear.
  • #thisisme #thisisus
We are seeking people who would be willing to have their story (in words or by video) shared across PINNT’s social platforms during HAN Week. If you‘d be happy to do this then please email us at comms@pinnt.com.

Take part in our “What a waste - Art Attack 2025” repurposing and photo competition

What can you do with the waste gloves, caps, paper towels, plastic dressing trays, etc? This is not about giving them away and recycling them. It’s about what you can create with them. There will be three categories to participate in during HAN Week:

  1. What a waste: take a photo of the waste you generate by having your treatments at home. Tell us if it was from a day, a week or even a month! And be as creative as you want to be.
  2. Waste to creativity: take a photo of something creative you make from the waste - a piece of artwork, a sculpture or suchlike. Be inspired by watching the video below; you do not have to be arty or crafty - the only requirement is to show something that uses your waste!
  3. Waste to repurposing: take a photo of the ingenious things you do with your waste - the practical uses you’ve devised for the waste gloves, caps, dressing trays, etc.

Start saving your safe waste NOW and start exploring what you can do with it!

Change your profile picture

Doing this during HAN Week will help raise awareness of PINNT and the essential nutritional treatments we need to keep us alive - enteral and parenteral feeding and oral supplements.

If you are a healthcare professional, service provider or manufacturer you can join in too!
  • Get involved with all the activities stated above! You can get together with colleagues to be creative too; make something that showcases your role within artificial nutrition, something you think is fun, interesting or educational - the choice is yours!
  • Tell people how you are involved, what you do and how you support people on #HAN.
  • Give shout outs to staff and colleagues who are often forgotten people as part of providing home artificial nutrition to those who need it!
  • Arrange a drop in or session within your work setting to showcase the types of treatments you support people with. Why is effective artificial nutrition so important!

Everyone!

You may be a patient benefiting from it, a spouse/partner supporting someone receiving it, a healthcare professional providing care for someone, an individual who works in the nutrition industry, someone involved in the provision of nutrition solutions, equipment or services - you all have a part in the unique journey and a story to share!

Home artificial nutrition requires input from a wide range of people; each one vital to the production, monitoring, delivery of the nutrition solutions and services to people dependent on this life-saving nutrition.

We know it doesn't always go smoothly but if we are honest the provision of home artificial nutrition is one that should be celebrated ~ it's a lifeline to thousands of people.
