LITRE publish a user assessment on the ambulatory PN pumps

Looking into the Requirements for Equipment (LITRE) is a standing committee of PINNT which is a multi-professional panel. It is led by patients and is convened to look at equipment and services.

We are pleased to announce that the LITRE report on PN ambulatory pumps has been published. Following the user assessment that took place in July 2016 a considerable amount of information has been collated to allow us to produce our report.

The expert panel reviewed seven pumps and considered a number of key features that contributed to the results produced by the panel. The expert panel consisted of eleven people; seven were selected from those who responded to our adverts and four were invited because of their expertise. The report does not claim to be fully representative of each and every HPN patient but what it does do is give an insight from the users perspective. That s exactly what this report is intended to be; a user assessment, the voices of those who use the pumps.

LITRE advocates the need for a wider choice of approved pumps for homecare patients. While unable to comment on technical aspects it is known that there are currently issues for patients and carers that have a negative impact on day-to-day life. If you see a pump in the report and wish to know more about it then you must talk to your own nutrition team or healthcare professionals. Do not make direct requests to your homecare company.
